Teaching

At the present moment I do not practice teaching, as I moved my professional skills to the industry of software development.

From 2012 to 2018, I was a PhD Student, a teaching assistant, a sessional instructor, and a guest lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria (Canada). During 2007 and 2012 I was a professor at Icesi University (Colombia) teaching undergraduate courses for the program of Systems/Softwre Engineering. I follow an Active Learning teaching approach, where the student is a the centre of the learning experience, and instructors facilitate such learning by guiding classes, creating material, and designing activities and exercises in the development of competences and reinforcement of concepts.

I receive a great deal of personal satisfaction in the learning I get from the act of teaching. Every course I’ve taught helped me improve its new version. Every generation of students has shown me with their different personalities new learning approaches and types of activities. No matter how many times I’ve taught a course, it is never the same.
